Import 3D Motion (3D Motion Converter)
In v4.4, Cartoon Animator extend its compatibility to 3D Motion (.rlMotion, .iMotion). It allows user to import 3D animations and project the motion to 2D characters. Moreover, with 3D Motion Converter in Cartoon Animator, you have additional customization options. The 3D Motion Converter control panel enables user to adjust the projection angle of the character animation, freely select specific 3D motion range to apply to 2D characters and more to suffice user's different preference of character animation in different scenarios.
G3 character supports .rlmotion and .imotion
Reallusion made a major breakthrough by supporting to import and apply 3D motion (.rlmotion & .iMotion) to G3 character in Cartoon Animator. It unlocks G3 character's possibilities to perform simulated, realistic animation. More so, with more than 3000 sets of 3D motion resources available in Reallusion store, CTA v.4.4 also widely open the accessibility for users to create 2D animation with 3D motions in multiple character angles and varied scenarios.
New Embedded Content added in Content Library
To ensure CTA users can fully experience the benefit of applying 3D motion to 2D animation. Reallusion provides the following contents along with the software for users to explore:
- 3D Motion Contents (.rlMotion, .iMotion)
8 sets of 3D motion are provided, including to 2 pose motions, 1 dance motion, 2 idle motions and 3 walking motions. each can respectively apply to character of multiple angles (front, side, 45-degree)
For more 3D motion, you can go to Reallusion Content Store to get more:
https://www.reallusion.com/ContentStore/index.html?MenuItem=ic_motion&platform=Windows&Nav=Top- Dummy Characters for 3D Motion
5 dummy characters for 3D motion are provided. These dummy characters are optimized with Reallusion's retargeting system, hence are able to perform rather smoothly when apply 3D motions
- Dummy Bone Hand
4 dummy bone hands are provided, including Dummy_back up, Dummy_back, Dummy_palm down, Dummy_palm front. The purpose to provide different angles of hand poses is meant to give users more flexibilities to choose in order to make hand animation looks more natural and smooth when applying 3D motion. Users can customize the hand by sending the dummy bone hand templates to external PSD editing tool.
- 2D Motion content fine-tuned from 3D Motion (.rlMotion, .iMotion)
As a demonstration of how 3D motion can be converted to 2D motion and applied to 2D characters, 32 sets of fine-tuned 2D motions are provided. These 2D motions are converted by 3D mo-capped motions.
Cartoon Animator Motion Link Plugin for iClone(PC Only)
In v.4.4, Reallusion introduces Motion Link, a plugin installed under iClone. It links between iClone and Cartoon Animator for real-time 3D motion creation and editing that directly projects to the 2D character. iClone as a powerful 3D amination tool allows users to create high-quality and lifelike motions, and with motion link, the motion data can be sent to Cartoon Animator just in a second. Users can real-time preview 2D animation with 3D motions editing in iClone at the same time, fine-tune the animation with customizable projection angles, and record the editing process to ensure the best animation quality. Motion link not only offers a revolutionary solution to expedite motion editing workflow for 2D animation but also unlock endless potentials of motion creation.
Flip Body
In the past, when users use motion capture function with Motion LIVE 2D, the animation result cannot turn the character body around and walk back to the initial position as performed in real life. In v.4.4, Reallusion optimizes the body animation with "Flip Body" function. By enabling "Flip Body" function in the mocap process , the mo-capped 2D character will flip the body automatically when the mocap actor turn around. That being said, the facing direction of the character is aligned with the real-life motion, saving the trouble of post-editing the animation to fit the scene. This feature helps you make animating in mocap more flexible and more intuitive.
Z-Axis
Z-Axis is a helpful tool newly added in CTA that creates a space and depth effect for 2D animation. Users can enable this tool when applying 3D motion or using mocap. It changes the scale of the object/character when moving it forward or backward. In that way, users can use perspective to represent three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional surface, which makes the animation looks more natural and realistic.
Set Project Start/End Frame Markers
In v.4.4, Reallusion adds Start/ End marker button in the toolbar, allowing to simply click on the button to set start/end frame for custom export range. This enhanced feature provides a more friendly usability to the users.
