История группы начинается в 1990 году, в Лос-Анджелесе. Эмигрант из Великобритании, Шон Бреннан (Sean Brennan) начал заниматься тем, что умел лучше всего с детства – писать и играть музыку, при поддержке своих товарищей - Майкла Ареклетта (Michael Areklett) в качестве басс-гитариста и клавишника Тамлина (Tamlyn) (позже к ним присоединятся гитарист Edward Hawkins и барабанщик Joe S). Группа взяла себе название немого фильма 20-х годов, и достаточно эпатажный «готический» сценический образ.

Первый альбом "Selected Scenes from the End of the World", был выпущен на кассете в 1992 году и разошелся большим тиражом. Но, несмотря на это и на некоторую известность в странах Америки и даже Европы, группа еще долго оставалась в тени мирового шоу бизнеса.

Лишь только в 95 году альбом был переиздан на германской звукозаписывающей компании Apocalyptic Vision. Вслед за ним, в 1996 году, вышло второе полноформатное издание "Psycho Magnet", включающее такие хиты как "Kiss", "Shatter" и дало огромный толчок к дальнейшему росту популярности группы. Вскоре LAM начали появляться на обложках известных журналов и участвовать в мировых турах в качестве хедлайнеров.

И вот, через 12 лет после предыдущего релиза, в 2007 году вышла новая полноформатная работа группы. Violent Acts Of Beauty - это напористая, маршеподобная мелодика не без налета былой романтики и не без использования скрипки, фортепиано и саксофона. Возвращает к мысли о том, что это все же LAM неповторимый голос Шона, все такой же мягкий, нежный, необыкновенно красивый! Новая работа это протест. Против эгоизма и культа американского образа жизни, против ограниченности отдельно взятой личности и безразличия к происходящим событиям, против политики промывания мозгов и диктатуры...
