Featured musicians: BILLY SHERWOOD (World Trade, Yes) on vocals & guitar, CHRIS SQUIRE (Yes, The Syn) on vocals, bass, & guitar, JAY SCHELLEN (GPS, World Trade, Asia) on drums & percussion, MICHAEL SHERWOOD on keyboards & vocorder, and SCOTT WALTON on keyboards and bass synth...While the Yes spin-off band CONSPIRACY have recorded two fine albums, and even found some fan/critical acclaim with their superior 2nd release (2002's "The Unknown"), thus far they have not taken the band on the road for any sort of proper tour. Now, along comes this DVD, "Conspiracy Live", which offers fans their first taste what Conpiracy's live shows might look and sound like. However, as has already been pointed out by previous reviewers, this is not a traditional concert video by any means. Around the time that this was filmed, I remember reading that this was a private, invitation-only show performed in front of an audience of the band member's freinds and family. Well, if any audience WAS present, they are never seen or heard from in the finished product. (There is, for instance, no aupplause between songs, nor any type of audience participation/interaction whatsoever.) The concert also has an unusal visual style. The band plays a small room in near darkness, with the only lighting provided by some flickering orange candles, and a few neatly-placed shafts of light which illuminate the musicians faces. This style gives the show a sort of dark, mysterious, gothic vibe...But does the visual presentation really fit the band's music? In a few places I think it does (such as the intensely-rocking opener "Conspiracy", and the mystical, atmospheric "The More We Live"), but more often the songs exude a positive vibe which seems at odds with the bleak imagery...
